Success of Second Servers' Guild Dinner

Staged at the Star Tavern in Belgravia, the second informal dinner for MCs and Senior Servers showed an improvement in the number of bookings – indicating that, from a slow start, such social affairs are being appreciated by the membership.

The evening was organised by Central Council member, Mark Brophy,  who commented that because of its success, there will definitely be another next year. This sentiment was echoed by President of the Archconfraternity of St Stephen, Anthony Hawes, KSG, who said:

"We are greatly encouraged by the improved numbers and by the enthusiasm for this dinner.  Indeed, one of the senior servers at the church where I am MC, St Monica’s, travelled by coach from Oxford where he is at University and will be returning there after the dinner. "

Our thanks must go to Mark Brophy for organising the event and I hope that everyone here, this evening enjoyed it.

Among the guests was Mrs Linda Helm, sacristan at St Etheldreda’s, Ely Place, Holborn, London and Rev Dr Lawrence Hemming, deacon at the same church.

One comment made was that since St Stephen himself was a deacon of the church, it was appropriate to have a deacon at a Guild event.
